No, this is not another post about tennis. Nor is it about scrapbooking. It's a post about motherhood–a tribute to my own mother, from whom I learned the tricks of the trade of being a mom. :)
Mother's Day is just around the corner, and my mom and dad are gearing up for what might be their last Mother's Day in the restaurant business. One can only hope, right? After all, they've been working for many, many decades now, and they are finally in a position where they are seriously considering retirement. My fingers are crossed, for sure!
I spoke to my mom on the phone last night for the first time in (I'm embarrassed to say) a really long time. I've been busy, and she's been busy. That's no excuse though. Seriously. I think I forget how rejuvenating it is to have a conversation with the person who is, in fact, my biggest cheerleader in life. As I told her of the ups and downs the kids were going through and how, in my crazy, borderline-control-freaky way, I have been dealing with it, she told me she was proud of what a great mother I was.
Can you see me beaming from where you are? A thumbs-up from my mom! I don't think she knows how much that means to me, so I made a card to tell her. This will be going in the mail today.
Yes, indeed. I did learn from the best. My mom taught me how to be patient, how to put my children's needs before my own, how to encourage my kids without interfering and, most importantly, how to love them unconditionally and to forgive and move on.
.......
Okay, that was pretty heavy for a Monday morning. I'd better give my head a shake and get on with my week. Have a great one, my friends! Thanks for dropping by to visit.

Oh what a sweet tribute and such a pretty card.

How cool that your parents own a restaurant! Thanks for this...it's a lovely reminder for me to hop on the phone with my mom. Moms are the best.
