It's summertime in the nation's capital. So many things going on that we couldn't possibly do everything Ottawa has to offer. We usually play it by ear and take the boys out whenever we can.
For example, we didn't make the trek downtown last week for Canada Day, mainly because the boys were still overtired from all the year-end school activities. We chose to take it easy close to home, and we visited Petrie Island during their down time (between the kiddie events and the fireworks) and watched the do-it-yourself fireworks show that a few families put on at a local park.
Yesterday, we took in the excitement of the CHEO Teddy Bear Picnic. We got there early, around 9:30, and beat the crowds and the rain... Thomas and James went on three rides (the line-ups were crazy!), met some celebrities (the Sens mascot and the Tooth Fairy were my personal faves), and made bear buddies (soccer twins).
The picnic was awesome... we timed it perfectly, the rain held off, the boys had a great time, and we managed to get home in time to have lunch and zip James off to a birthday party that afternoon. If only all our outings were as successful as this one. :)
Has it been already a year since we were there with you last summer? Time sure flies! Looks like the boys had fun in the roller coaster and got the first row too! LOL ;D
Can't wait to get together again. :D
