It's very early in the morning on the first day of school... and not a creature was stirring, not even a... shhhhhhh, I don't want to jinx it. They're all still sleeping and I'm enjoying the silence.
It's been a very busy summer for us. We crammed a lot of fun stuff into the three weeks we were on vacation, and the boys were in various day camps during the other seven weeks of holidays. :)
Yes, it was a whole lot of fun, but it was emotionally draining for me, which is why you haven't seen me blogging as much as I otherwise might have. Because I just didn't have a lot to say at the end of the day. It wasn't a bad thing. It just was what it was, ya know. (And I know some of you know all too well...)
As Thomas and I sat down yesterday to chart out the course for his grade five year, we did a debrief of all we did this summer, and I realized exactly how tired I was from dealing with all the conflict and anxiety, not just from him but stemming from both of my kids. It's been a summer of emotional development, and I'm hoping the lessons they learned will stick with them throughout the school year... but I'm also hoping that when they look back, they won't remember all the bad stuff... just the fun of the water parks, amusement parks, beaches, museums and all the other good stuff we did.
These pictures were taken at Magic Mountain in Moncton NB. We stopped at Magnetic Hill and then hung around the water park for a bit on our way home from Nova Scotia this summer.
Anyway, here's to the end of an action-packed summer and the excitement that accompanies the beginning of a new school year!
I hope that your guys will have a great first day back to school and an awesome school year! And I hope that the back-to-school schedule won't be too hard on you either. :)

You did manage a lot this summer! I too hope the lessons learned "stick". I hope your boys return from their first day back all energized and excited about the year ahead!

They won't even remember there was bad stuff... they maybe don't even think of it as bad! My mom brings up stuff from our home around that age and I am like huh? really? I just remember trying to catch frogs that summer and that my bathing suit was yellow :)
